The Overhead Bench publishes one kind of page: a work order that answers a single question about a sectional garage door or the operator that moves it. Everything on the site is written by the bench and checked against sources that a reader can obtain.

Sources

A work order names the sources it read. In this field the useful sources are the published standards for door and operator safety, the installation instructions supplied with a door or an operator, the service literature, and the manufacturer's published ratings for force, speed and duty cycle.

Where two sources disagree, the work order says so and explains which one governs in the United States. Where no source settles the question, the work order says that the point is unsettled.

Advertising and commerce

Links leaving the site are placed because they answer a question the work order raises, and they are described in the sentence that carries them.

Corrections

A correction is made in the open. The sentence is rewritten, the work order is re-dated to the day it was checked, and the change is reflected in the feed and in the sitemap.
